We are delighted to be working with an established and respected supplier to the fresh food processing industry, representing multiple European machinery manufacturers in the UK and Ireland. The business has a long trading history, an experienced team and a strong customer base.
The successful candidate will be responsible for sales coverage of a defined range of food processing machinery across the UK. You will play an integral part in the sales team, involved in all stages of the sales process, with responsibility for managing key accounts and developing new business to achieve agreed sales and profitability targets. The role is highly autonomous, with direct reporting to the Sales Director. Initial mentoring will be provided by an experienced Sales Executive to ensure a structured onboarding and fast-tracked development. Target markets and customer segments will be clearly defined, while allowing significant scope for the individual to shape their own sales strategy and working methods.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and developing key customer accounts
- Identifying and generating new sales opportunities
- Market research and telephone prospecting
- Regular customer visits and meetings
- Achieving agreed activity, sales, and profitability targets
- Setting up and overseeing customer trials (on-site and in-house), including delivery, installation, and training
- Preparing and sending sales correspondence, literature, and targeted mailshots
- Liaising with machinery manufacturers and suppliers on specific projects
- Promoting the full product and service range to customers and prospects
- Supporting machine installations and assisting with faults or breakdowns when required
- Maintaining accurate CRM records and providing weekly and monthly sales reports
Candidate Profile
- Experience selling capital equipment into food processing or manufacturing industries preferred
- Alternatively, strong commercial aptitude with a desire to develop a career in equipment sales
- Self-motivated, organised, and capable of managing time and priorities effectively
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Package
- Basic salary: 35,000-40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- Commission: 1% of sales
- Bonus scheme OTE up to 60,000
- Company vehicle provided (initially pool car, reviewed after probation)
- Mobile phone and laptop
- 25 days' holiday per year (including Christmas shutdown)
- Office-based role in the UK (East of England)
