The Role
As Service Manager, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and supporting a team of service engineers while actively contributing to service, repair, and calibration activities. You will play a key role in setting standards, improving performance, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of service engineers, providing both technical guidance and day-to-day leadership
- Carry out hands-on service, repair, and validation/calibration work alongside the team
- Act as a senior point of contact for customers, handling queries and resolving issues professionally
- Support commercial activities, including pricing of labour and spare parts
- Assess warranty claims and make balanced, informed decisions
- Contribute to the growth and profitability of service contracts
- Ensure all work meets industry standards and aligns with relevant accreditation requirements
- Drive continuous improvement, focusing on efficiency, consistency, and high first-time fix rates
About You
- Proven experience as a service or field engineer, with additional leadership or management responsibility
- Strong technical capability with the ability to lead by example in a hands-on environment
- Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with both customers and team members
- Commercially aware, with the ability to balance customer satisfaction and business needs
- Resilient and solution-focused, particularly in challenging situations
- Familiarity with UKAS accreditation requirements
