Requirements
- Proven track record of building AI-powered products - thinking hard about prompting architecture, model behaviour, and what genuinely good AI UX looks like.
- (Desirable) Experience in EdTech, consumer subscription apps, or B2B SaaS with an end-user product component.
- Technically hands-on: comfortable enough with code to prototype ideas, run evals, and debug model outputs using AI coding tools.
- (Desirable) Familiarity with UK education - exam boards, curriculum structure, how schools buy and adopt software.
- Deep understanding of LLM fundamentals - context windows, RAG, prompt engineering, fine-tuning trade-offs, and how to measure model quality rigorously.
- (Desirable) Experience taking a product from early traction to scale.
- Strong product instinct with experience owning end-to-end product lifecycles - from discovery and definition through to delivery and iteration.
- (Desirable) Have worked alongside a Growth team and understand how product and growth interlock.
- Data-driven decision-maker: comfortable with analytics tools (e.g. Metabase, Mixpanel, Google Analytics).
- (Desirable) Have worked in a company at the 20–50 person stage.

What the job involves
- Own the AI layer of Zero Gravity Tutor - prompting strategy, model selection, context architecture, retrieval design, and output quality across every subject and mode.
- Build and iterate on the systems that make Zero Gravity Tutor genuinely adaptive.
- Tackle the hard AI problems: moving from objective subjects into the subjective, solving for evaluation at scale.
- Design and run rigorous evals to measure output quality, hallucination rates, and whether the product is actually helping students learn.
- Prototype new features hands-on - you'll write code, build POCs, and stress-test ideas before committing engineering resource.
- Own the product roadmap - sequencing bets, setting priorities, and keeping the team focused on what moves the needle for students.
- Define what success looks like and hold the team to it.
- Act as the voice of the student and the teacher - run user research, synthesise feedback, and translate real-world insight into product decisions.
- Work closely with Growth and Commercial to design the loops that turn engaged users into a sustainable, scaling business.
- Shape the product experience for schools and the educators inside them.
- Work directly with partner schools and teachers to validate what we're building.
- Help define how Zero Gravity Tutor is packaged and positioned for institutional buyers.
- Champion a culture of curiosity, testing, and learning.
- Collaborate closely with the engineering squad - set clear priorities, unblock decisions, and keep pace high.
