What's the opportunity?
HSBC's International Wealth and Premier Banking business serves over 40 million customers globally, from retail customers to ultra-high net worth individuals and their families. Asset Management invests on behalf of that worldwide customer base - retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions - connecting them with investment opportunities through an international network of offices.
Over 10 weeks from June 2027 you'll work with investment teams on research, portfolio activity and analysis that supports real decision-making. You'll need to be comfortable turning numbers into insight, and happy learning by doing.
What you'll do
- Help explore investment opportunities, market trends and industry insights
- Build your analysis and coding skills
- Learn how portfolio construction and management work in practice
- Build your understanding of asset classes, HSBC products and hedge funds
- Work with colleagues across the team to deliver against client needs and business priorities
You'll manage your own workload, contribute ideas and build confidence working with people at different levels. The internship also includes structured assessments aligned to securing a graduate role, so you'll get chances to show how you think, collaborate and deliver through project work, presentations, interviews or skills-based evaluations.
What you'll learn
You'll build your investment foundation through a week of structured training focused on both technical and behavioural skills, followed by continuous on-the-job learning. As the internship progresses you'll deepen your understanding of how investment decisions are made, how research supports outcomes, and how teams work in a fast-paced, detail-focused environment. You'll also strengthen your confidence in applying analytical thinking to real projects. By the end you'll have a stronger understanding of investments and a clearer sense of how your skills fit in this space.
Where you'll work
You'll work in the investments side of International Wealth and Premier Banking, in a specialist environment focused on research, portfolio-related activity and market insight. Investment professionals work closely together here, sharing ideas, analysis and perspectives across products, asset classes and investment themes.
Am I eligible?
You’ll need to:
- Be available to work full time for 10 weeks commencing June 2027
- Be in the penultimate year of your undergraduate studies, expecting to graduate in 2028
- Have obtained, or expect to achieve, a 2:1 degree classification or higher, or an overseas equivalent
Good to know
