Renting a new home shouldn't drain your savings before you've even moved in. At Zero Deposit, we're dismantling the broken deposit system that's kept renters trapped in a cycle of financial stress. We give tenants a genuine alternative to crippling upfront costs, freeing up their money for the things that matter. We're a fast-growing insurtech on a mission to revolutionise the rental market with a smarter, more equitable solution.
About the team
We deliver fair outcomes when tenancies end, where evidence, emotion, and judgement collide. We're building the best claims function in the industry. What that means:
- We own our decisions.
- End-to-end accountability for speed and quality.
- We talk to people. Phone calls, not email chains.
- We follow the evidence. Balanced outcomes, even in difficult conversations.
- We work fast without cutting corners. High standards and high performance.
- We improve constantly. Better processes, smarter ways to work.
- People-first and technology-enabled. Resilience, empathy, and responsibility are the baseline.
About the role
As a Claims Handler, you'll be the architect of fair outcomes when tenancies end. You'll transform what's typically a contentious, stressful process into something balanced, transparent, and human, earning the trust of both tenants and landlords through skilled, principled work.
- You'll resolve end-of-tenancy claims involving damages, rent arrears, and outstanding charges with speed and integrity.
- Navigate difficult conversations with tenants, landlords, and agents, using phone-based dialogue to de-escalate tension, build rapport, and drive toward mutually acceptable resolutions.
- Evaluate evidence with precision, cutting through incomplete or conflicting documentation to make sound, defensible judgements on claim settlements.
- Perform at a high standard consistently, balancing productivity and quality KPIs while keeping equitable outcomes at the centre of every decision.
This role is for someone who thrives on autonomy and accountability, who gets genuine satisfaction from untangling complex situations and landing on the right answer, even when it's not the easiest one.
About you
You'll excel here if you're:
- Impartial and principled, with the intellectual honesty to see all sides of a dispute and the integrity to follow the evidence wherever it leads.
- Persuasive and empathetic, able to build credibility quickly over the phone and guide emotional conversations toward constructive outcomes.
- Unfazed by pressure, with the organisational discipline to manage competing priorities without losing quality or composure.
- Intrinsically motivated by fairness and impact, measuring success not just by cases closed but by outcomes that feel right for everyone involved.
Benefits you’ll get from us:
- Monthly performance bonuses that reward your impact in real-time.
- Up to 30 days annual leave (starting at 25 and increasing with tenure) + all bank holidays.
- Your birthday off, because celebrating yourself matters.
- Genuine flexibility. We measure you by your results, not hours at a desk.
- Free mental health, leadership and life coaching through our sanctus partnership.
- Life insurance (UK only) and a company pension scheme.
- Clear progression pathways, with opportunities to grow into senior claims roles, leadership or broader operations management as you develop.
Join us if you believe the rental market deserves better, and if you want to be part of a team that's proving what "gold-standard" actually means in practice, not just in slogans.
