As a relatively new charity, ZCG has expanded its staff team to nine, in addition to a large number of volunteers. We are seeking an HR trustee who can provide strategic leadership on how to support our people, develop robust HR policies and create a positive and supportive workplace.
ZCG has expanded rapidly and been successful in terms of local impact, attracting funding and recruiting volunteers. We have even won a national award and been praised in the House of Commons! Having a supportive, inclusive workplace culture is crucial to our success, and the role of HR trustee is key in helping us achieve this and in making sure we get things right.
As an experienced HR professional you will provide strategic leadership to the Board on supporting our people, developing robust HR and safeguarding processes, creating a positive, supportive workplace culture. You do not need to have any expertise in climate change but you do need to be committed to our charitable aims of helping Guildford reach carbon neutrality. Previous experience of being a trustee is not necessary.
Our board comprises 13 people with two people standing down this year. We have a broad range of skills and expertise relevant to our missions of carbon reduction and environmental conservation, but with the charity going from being completely volunteer-led four years ago to now employing nine part-time staff we feel this is an area we are lacking sufficient knowledge.
We hold five trustee meetings a year and are based in Guildford near to the train station.
