Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and technically capable Solar Surveyor to support the continued growth of our renewable energy operations across the North of England. The successful candidate will have a strong background and knowledge in the installation and surveying of:

  • Solar PV systems
  • Battery storage systems

The role will involve carrying out detailed domestic and light commercial site surveys, assessing technical suitability, gathering accurate property data, and producing high quality survey reports to support installation teams and sales operations. Using Open Solar to create solar PV system designs and proposals. This is a Hybrid/field-based role requiring regular travel throughout the North of England.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Surveys & Assessment
    • Conduct detailed on-site surveys for Solar PV and battery storage installations
    • Assess roof suitability, structural considerations, shading, orientation, and electrical infrastructure
    • Measure and record accurate property and system data
    • Identify installation constraints and provide practical technical solutions
    • Complete comprehensive survey reports with photographs and technical notes
  • System Design & Technical Support
    • To produce Solar PV system designs using OpenSolar
    • Assist with battery storage integration and system optimisation
    • Support sales and operations teams with technical guidance
    • Liaise with installation engineers to ensure smooth project delivery
    • Ensure designs and surveys comply with current industry standards and regulations
  • Customer Engagement
    • Professionally represent the business during customer visits
    • Explain proposed systems and technical solutions clearly to homeowners and clients
    • Manage customer expectations throughout the survey process
    • Provide excellent customer service and maintain high professional standard
  • Compliance & Health & Safety
    • Ensure all surveys are completed in accordance with MCS standards
    • Building Regulations
    • Electrical safety requirements
    • Health & Safety procedures
    • Maintain accurate documentation and survey records

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and property layouts
  • Knowledge of Solar PV system design principles
  • Experience using Open Solar or similar solar design software
  • Competent with tablets, survey software, and Microsoft Office applications
