Zeren is partnering with a privately owned London property business to hire a Financial Controller. The group manages a portfolio of residential and commercial assets across London, held across multiple entities, with a family office dimension that adds further breadth to the accounting environment. This hire is designed to bring structure and leadership to the finance team and to serve as a genuine number two to the Group Finance Director.
What you bring:
- Progression to a Manager/Senior Manager grading within a practice environment
- Broad practice experience with a background in preparing accounts and tax, rather than a pure audit track
- Proven experience leading and managing a team
- Tax-aware and able to identify when specialist or external advice is required - experience preparing or reviewing corporation tax returns would be beneficial
- A track record of going beyond the day-to-day - involvement in ad hoc projects, process improvements, or initiatives that demonstrate initiative and broader business contribution
- Real estate or property sector experience is advantageous but not required
What you will be doing:
- Lead the finance team as the primary point of accountability, with direct reports spanning qualified accountants and transactional finance staff
- Own the group’s management accounts and statutory reporting across multiple legal entities
- Manage compliance, audit liaison, and regulatory obligations across the group
- Support the family office function: share portfolio accounting, banking relationships, and shareholder tax coordination
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and asset valuation/analysis work across the portfolio
- Provide the Group Finance Director with a clear weekly view of progress, priorities, and forward planning
