About the role and team
Zepz's Identity engineering teams sit at the front door of the product: the first thing every customer touches, and the first line of defence for a high growth, cross-border remittance business. We're looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to help us build the React Native experiences that carry millions of customers through onboarding and identity verification every year. You'll work alongside engineering managers, staff engineers, and cross-functional partners in product, design, and compliance to raise the technical bar on our mobile frontend, architecture, test coverage, CI/CD, and release practice, while shipping features customers depend on to move money safely.
What you bring to the table
- Professional experience building production mobile applications, with deep, hands-on expertise in React Native.
- Strong command of modern JavaScript/TypeScript, component architecture, and state management at scale.
- A rigorous approach to testing, unit, integration, and end-to-end with genuine ownership of CI/CD pipelines, not just code that passes through them.
- Experience in a regulated or high-compliance environment (fintech, healthtech, or similar), with an instinct for the extra care that customer onboarding and identity verification flows demand.
- A track record of owning deployments end-to-end: monitoring, feature flagging, phased rollouts, and rollback plans.
- Clear, structured written communication; you can write a design doc or a post-mortem that stakeholders across the business can actually follow.
- Comfort operating with moderate ambiguity and driving a problem to resolution with minimal hand-holding.
What you will focus on
- Own delivery of team-level features end-to-end on our React Native identity flows, from technical design through to production monitoring.
- Collaborate directly with Product and Design to shape technical approach and surface risk early, rather than working from fully-specified tickets.
- Raise the quality bar: strengthen test coverage, tighten CI/CD, and help bring down change-failure rate across the team's codebase.
- Navigate a fragmented stack and legacy constraints pragmatically; know when to fix, when to work around, and when to escalate.
- Partner with compliance and risk stakeholders so mobile changes meet regulatory expectations, not just product ones.
Nice to have / bonus points if you have
- Exposure to native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin), enough to read, debug, or occasionally patch the native modules React Native leans on.
- Experience in remittance, payments, or other cross-border fintech.
- Experience operating under external regulatory oversight (FCA, KYC/AML frameworks, PCI, or equivalent).
AI Literacy & Tools
As Zepz continues to build AI into how we work, we expect everyone to engage with it as a core part of their role. For this position, we are looking for:
- A genuine curiosity about AI and how it can be applied in your area of work — from accelerating analysis and insight generation to improving how we design and deliver processes and communications.
- Practical experience using AI tools in a professional context — whether to connect information, draft content, build frameworks, or create insights from data. We want people who actively use AI to increase productivity, not those who are waiting to be told to.
- Strong AI literacy — an understanding of what AI assistants can and cannot do, how to prompt effectively, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated output before using it.
- Awareness of the ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in the workplace, particularly in the context of sensitive data, customer experience, and compliance.
- Prior experience using Claude (Anthropic) is a nice-to-have but not essential — what matters most is that you are genuinely engaged with AI as a tool, comfortable experimenting, and eager to share what works with your wider team.
