About the role and team

In the spirit of our People team purpose, ‘mobilising capability to enable our vision’, this is a role that keeps the People Business Partners team running well. It is the engine behind the team: consistent, fast, high-quality, and deeply trusted by the PBPs it supports. The People Advisor is a pivotal support role within the People team, working across all functions. You will be the first point of contact for employee relations matters, own a portfolio of repeatable but critical people processes. You will thrive on doing things properly, in a fast-moving FinTech environment where precision, speed, and empathy matter in equal measure.

What you will focus on

  • Employee Relations — First-Line Support: Act as the first point of contact for ER matters across all functions, managing cases from initial query through to resolution with appropriate oversight from the PBP. Support managers with performance conversations, early-stage capability concerns, PIPs, and probation reviews — ensuring all actions are properly documented, fairly applied, and legally sound. Manage disciplinary and grievance cases end-to-end under the direction of the relevant PBP, including preparing invite letters, taking notes in hearings and drafting outcome letters. Maintain the ER case log, ensuring all live cases are tracked, deadlines are met, and the People team has real-time visibility of the ER landscape across functions.
  • Process Ownership — Repeatable but Critical: Own the end-to-end delivery of Zepz’s core people cycle processes, including probation reviews, performance check-ins and support with mid-year reviews, and end-of-year assessments, ensuring these run on time, are properly communicated, and are tracked to completion in HiBob. Support the deployment of People products and programmes, including rolling out engagement survey action plans, training completion nudges, and goal-setting reminders, ensuring adoption is tracked and reported. Produce regular People reporting for the PBP team including headcount snapshots, attrition summaries, probation status trackers, and ER case dashboards, ensuring we have the data we need to make decisions.
  • Manager Enablement & Self-Service: Support the PBP team’s ambition to empower managers to own BAU people processes themselves, by answering first-line manager queries, directing managers to the right self-serve resources in HiBob, and coaching managers through standard processes rather than doing it for them. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of manager guides, process FAQs, and ‘how-to’ documentation, building a library of clear, accessible resources that reduce repeat queries and enable genuine self-service.
  • Policy, Compliance & Continuous Improvement: Support the development and maintenance of Zepz People policies, ensuring they remain current, legally compliant, clearly written, and easy for managers and employees to navigate. Contribute to the continuous improvement of People processes. Identify where steps can be simplified, automated, or made more self-serve, and raise improvement proposals to the relevant PBP or People Ops Manager. Maintain appropriate documentation standards across all ER casework, process execution, and data management activities, ensuring Zepz is audit-ready at all times.

What We're Looking For

  • Solid generalist HR or People experience gained in a fast-moving, commercially driven environment — ideally within a FinTech, technology scale-up, or digital-first business.
  • Proven experience supporting or partnering with Product and Engineering teams. You understand how these functions are structured, how technical careers progress, and how to engage credibly with engineers and product managers on people matters.
  • FinTech sector knowledge is a genuine asset.
  • Solid working knowledge of employment law fundamentals.
  • Strong process discipline. You are someone who follows through, meets deadlines without being chased, and takes pride in doing the repetitive work well.
  • Experience working with an HRIS (HiBob experience is a strong advantage) and confidence using data and reporting to keep people processes on track.
  • Excellent written communication skills. You can draft a clear, professional outcome letter, a concise ER case summary, or a manager-facing FAQ with equal ease.
  • A natural collaborator who works well across a distributed, cross-functional team.
  • Self-starter with the energy and curiosity to get things done.

AI Literacy & Tools

As Zepz continues to build AI into how we work, we expect everyone to engage with it as a core part of their role. For this position we are looking for:

  • A genuine curiosity about AI and how it can be applied in your area of work — from accelerating analysis and insight generation, to improving how we design and deliver processes and communications.
  • Practical experience using AI tools in a professional context — whether to connect information, draft content, build frameworks, or create insights from data. We want people who actively use AI to increase productivity, not those who are waiting to be told to.
  • Strong AI literacy — an understanding of what AI assistants can and cannot do, how to prompt effectively, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated output before using it.
  • Awareness of the ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in the workplace, particularly in the context of sensitive data, customer experience, and compliance.
  • Prior experience using Claude (Anthropic) is a nice-to-have but not essential — what matters most is that you are genuinely engaged with AI as a tool, comfortable experimenting, and eager to share what works with your wider team.

If you want to join us in our journey to help break barriers in financial access and improve lives globally, there's no better place or time to join. Our global team of 800+ people is spread across six continents. We aspire to hire the best mix of people from former Olympians to YouTube influencers and we speak over twenty languages. This incredible diversity isn't a bonus; it's the engine that lets us serve the world.
