About the role and team
As the Director of Corporate Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's long-term strategic direction. Reporting to the VP FP&A, you will lead high-impact projects spanning mergers and acquisitions (M&A), strategic partnerships, and capital financing.
This role requires a unique blend of strong technical skills and strategic vision. You will not only own complex financial models but also be a powerful communicator, translating data into compelling narratives for our Board, investors, and senior leadership.
What you will focus on
- Strategic Finance & Capital Management
- Financial Modeling: Own and enhance the Group’s three-statement financial model to support capital raising, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
- Capital Strategy & Execution: Own and lead all capital-raising and refinancing activities, working in close partnership with the Treasury team, including both debt and equity financing.
- Stakeholder Management: Manage and maintain key relationships with debt providers, investment banks, and other financial partners.
- Forecasting & Covenant Management: Develop detailed balance sheet and cash flow forecasts for the CFO and external lenders, ensuring performance against all covenants. Own all formal lender reporting obligations, including compliance certificates, informal undertakings and any ad-hoc reporting required under debt arrangements.
- Investment Analysis: Measure and analyze the Return on Invested Capital (ROIC) for all capital deployed through correspondent payout partners.
- Mergers, Acquisitions & Strategic Partnerships
- Lead M&A Execution: Drive the end-to-end M&A lifecycle, from sourcing and evaluation to due diligence, negotiation, and closing.
- Manage Opportunity Pipeline: Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential acquisition targets and strategic partners, cultivating key industry relationships.
- Develop Investment Cases: Create comprehensive investment cases and financial models for prospective acquisitions, presenting clear recommendations to the executive team.
- Oversee Integration: Develop and oversee post-merger integration plans to ensure the successful realisation of deal value and strategic objectives.
- Reporting & Market Intelligence
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the day-to-day lead on M&A and financing processes, preparing and presenting materials for the Board, investors, lenders, and regulators.
- Market Analysis: Monitor and analyse the performance of listed competitors and key market trends to identify risks and opportunities, informing corporate strategy.
- Formal Reporting: Own the formal investor reporting process, including preparation of quarterly and ad-hoc investor reports, board packs, and investor presentations, as well as leading the formal reporting process for all other key external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness throughout.
What you bring to the table
- Proven experience in corporate development, investment banking, or strategic finance, with a strong track record of leading and executing M&A transactions.
- Expert-level proficiency in three-statement financial modeling, valuation, and forecasting.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex financial analysis into actionable insights for executive audiences.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to assess opportunities from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives.
- Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams on complex, high-stakes projects.
- An established network within the financial community, including investment banks and institutional lenders, is highly desirable.
AI Literacy & Tools
As Zepz continues to build AI into how we work, we expect everyone to engage with it as a core part of their role. For this position we are looking for:
- A genuine curiosity about AI and how it can be applied in your area of work — from accelerating analysis and insight generation, to improving how we design and deliver processes and communications.
- Practical experience using AI tools in a professional context — whether to connect information, draft content, build frameworks, or create insights from data. We want people who actively use AI to increase productivity, not those who are waiting to be told to.
- Strong AI literacy — an understanding of what AI assistants can and cannot do, how to prompt effectively, and how to critically evaluate AI-generated output before using it.
- Awareness of the ethical considerations and responsible use of AI in the workplace, particularly in the context of sensitive data, customer experience, and compliance.
- Prior experience using Claude (Anthropic) is a nice-to-have but not essential — what matters most is that you are genuinely engaged with AI as a tool, comfortable experimenting, and eager to share what works with your wider team.
If you want to join us in our journey to help break barriers in financial access and improve lives globally, there's no better place or time to join. Our global team of 800+ people is spread across six continents. We aspire to hire the best mix of people from former Olympians to YouTube influencers and we speak over twenty languages.
