Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children and young people with SEND? We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to join our specialist team, working with pupils aged 7–16 with autism and complex additional needs. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a nurturing, highly structured environment where every child is valued, understood and empowered to thrive. Our approach is centred on building positive relationships, promoting emotional wellbeing, and providing personalised support that enables pupils to achieve meaningful progress academically, socially and emotionally. The Role

  • Support pupils in accessing learning through tailored interventions and adaptive strategies.
  • Work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver personalised educational programmes.
  • Encourage the development of communication, emotional regulation and independence skills.
  • Build trusting relationships that promote confidence, resilience and engagement in learning.
  • Assist in creating a calm, safe and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support pupils during enrichment activities, educational visits and life-skills experiences.
  • Contribute to recording progress and implementing strategies linked to pupils' EHCP outcomes.

We Are Looking for Candidates Who:

  • Have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a SEND setting.
  • Have experience supporting children or young people with autism and/or complex additional needs.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for pupils.
  • Can remain calm and flexible in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understand the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Position: SEND Teaching Assistant
Setting: SEN School (Autism/Complex Needs)
Working Hours: 08:30am – 15:30pm (Full-Time)
Pay: £115 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full Academic Year (Long-Term)

Trial Days: Selected candidates will be invited to a paid trial shift before the end of the academic year. If candidate(s) are successful, you may be required to work a full week to get used to the school before starting in September. The successful applicants will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. An enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references will be required prior to appointment.
