Rate: £400 - £450 per day, outside IR35

Overview

Our technology partner, who design complex electromechanical products, are seeking an experienced Contract Software Engineer to deliver defined packages of work against a roadmap of maintenance releases for a complex, long-established software platform comprising desktop, server, web, and embedded components. The engagement requires strong experience in Linux-based systems, multi-language development, and making safe, well-scoped changes within mature production environments and legacy technology stacks.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong Java development experience
  • Experience maintaining and enhancing large legacy software systems
  • Strong Linux development and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with native application development and debugging
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and database-driven applications
  • Experience working with build systems such as Make, Autotools, Ant, or similar
  • Experience supporting production applications across desktop, server, and web
  • Strong understanding of networked and distributed systems

  • C programming
