Electrical Design Engineer to support the design, development and integration of electrical systems and control panels for advanced industrial equipment. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in electrical schematics, control panel design and CAD software (AutoCAD or SolidWorks Electrical), looking to work in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environment. You will work closely with mechanical, systems and software engineers to deliver innovative, reliable and cost-effective electrical design solutions for global applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate customer requirements into detailed electrical specifications and system designs
  • Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and layout drawings using AutoCAD or SolidWorks Electrical
  • Design and develop control panels and electrical systems for industrial applications
  • Select electrical components and materials based on technical standards, cost and availability
  • Collaborate with mechanical and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration
  • Support manufacturing and suppliers during build, assembly and testing phases
  • Solve complex electrical design and production challenges within cross-functional teams
  • Create and test prototypes and sample designs
  • Produce detailed technical documentation, including calculations, design specifications and reports
  • Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical standards and best practices
  • Stay up to date with latest electrical design tools, CAD standards and manufacturing techniques

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer or similar role
  • Strong experience in control panel design and electrical wiring systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical
  • Experience producing electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and components
  • Familiarity with BOM creation and engineering documentation
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with 3D CAD modelling and mechanical design integration
  • Knowledge of electrical standards and compliance (e.g. IEC standards)
  • Experience working with manufacturing teams or suppliers
