Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 (Depending on Experience)

Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to drive the successful delivery of strategic engineering and new product development projects. Leading multidisciplinary teams across Mechanical, Electronic, Software and Manufacturing, you will manage projects from concept to launch, ensuring they meet customer requirements, quality standards, budgets and deadlines.

A suitable candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience managing engineering or new product development projects and experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering and new product development projects from concept through to commercial launch and closure.
  • Define project objectives, scope, timelines, budgets, resources and success criteria, ensuring effective project planning and delivery.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional, international teams across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and other key functions.
  • Manage project scope, costs, quality, risks, issues and dependencies, implementing mitigation and recovery plans where required.
  • Lead stage-gate, design, verification and validation reviews, ensuring project governance and quality requirements are met.
  • Coordinate prototype development, testing, pre-production, industrialisation and the successful transfer of products into production.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, risk and issue registers, change controls, resource plans and lessons learned.
  • Monitor project performance and provide clear progress updates to senior management, customers and key stakeholders, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal teams, supporting customer requirements, project communications and successful product launches.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems, engineering standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Support resource planning, proposal reviews, cost assessments and business case development across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement and mentor junior project management colleagues where appropriate.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven project management experience within an engineering, manufacturing or product development environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Stage-Gate, PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent project management methodologies.
  • Experience managing product development, manufacturing processes, budgets, risks and project controls.
  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems within an ISO 9001 environment.
  • Knowledge of change management, resource planning and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
  • Proven ability to lead, influence and motivate multidisciplinary teams across international locations.
  • Strong planning, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and commercial awareness, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Engineering qualification or relevant engineering experience desirable; software development experience would be advantageous.
