Health and Safety Consultant Contract Location: Outskirts of Sunderland Contract: 36 months Start Date: ASAP Rate: Competitive Outside IR35 (Open to Discussion) The Opportunity Our client is a well-established manufacturer operating within a highly regulated industrial environment. They are seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Consultant to join the business on an interim basis to lead the site's health, safety and environmental agenda. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, driving compliance, continuous improvement and a positive safety culture across a busy manufacturing operation. The Role Reporting directly to the Engineering director you will take ownership of the site's Health, Safety and Environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with UK legislation while supporting operational excellence across the business. As the lead EHS professional on site, you will partner with management teams to reduce risk, improve standards and promote a culture where safety and environmental responsibility are embedded throughout the organisation. Key Responsibilities Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance Ensure compliance with all relevant UK Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and industry best practice. Identify, assess and manage operational risks across the site. Maintain and review risk assessments and safe systems of work. Provide expert advice and guidance on all EHS matters. About You You will be an experienced EHS professional with a strong background in manufacturing, engineering or another high-risk industrial environment. Essential NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent). Demonstrable experience in a senior EHS position within manufacturing or industrial operations. Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH, DSEAR and related regulations. Experience leading incident investigations and implementing corrective actions. Experience managing Occupational Health programmes. Experience delivering EHS training and developing positive safety cultures. Proven ability to implement and improve EHS management systems. Desirable Environmental qualification such as the NEBOSH Environmental Certificate (or equivalent). Heavy industry experience ( steel, chemical, petrochemical manufacturing) TPBN1_UKTJ
