An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced FPGA Engineer to join an innovative engineering team working on cutting-edge technology projects within the defence and secure communications sector. This contract role will see you contributing to the design, development and verification of FPGA-based solutions for advanced electronic systems. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop high-performance hardware solutions from initial concept through to prototype and testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and implement FPGA firmware using VHDL and/or Verilog.
- Support the full FPGA development lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, simulation and verification.
- Collaborate with hardware, software and systems engineers to integrate FPGA solutions into complex products.
- Contribute to the development of prototype systems for technically challenging applications.
- Assist with testing, debugging and optimisation of FPGA designs.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong commercial experience developing FPGA solutions using VHDL and/or Verilog.
- Hands-on experience with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado and/or Intel Quartus.
- Demonstrable experience delivering FPGA designs from specification through to implementation.
- Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- Active SC Clearance/Eligible for SC Clearance Needed - Existing DV Clearance would be a significant advantage.
Desirable Experience:
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and system modelling using MATLAB or Simulink.
- Embedded software development in C/C++ within Linux environments.
- Experience of communications systems, software-defined radio (SDR), radar or other RF technologies.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
