We're looking for a talented and motivated Embedded Software Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to design, implement, and test embedded software across a range of microcontrollers, microprocessors, and Linux-based systems, contributing to innovative products and solutions.
About the Role
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software using C/C++.
- Develop software for microcontrollers and microprocessors, including PIC and STM32 series, as well as embedded Linux systems.
- Work with Linux kernels, bootloaders, device drivers and Board Support Packages (BSPs).
- Use Linux build systems such as Yocto to create custom Linux distributions.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers on new hardware bring-up and debugging hardware/software interfaces.
- Implement and troubleshoot hardware communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C and Ethernet.
- Use hardware debugging tools including oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
- Develop software supporting TCP/IP and UDP network protocols.
- Apply an understanding of basic network security concepts to embedded systems.
About You
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in embedded software development.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Hands-on experience developing embedded software for microcontrollers and/or microprocessors.
- Strong experience with embedded Linux, including kernel, Bootloaders, Device drivers, BSPs, and User interface engines.
- Familiarity with Linux build systems such as Yocto.
- Good understanding of digital and analogue circuits and hardware principles.
- Experience using hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
- Experience with hardware communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C and Ethernet.
- Understanding of TCP/IP and UDP network protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as within a small, collaborative engineering team.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Experience with IoT protocols, including MQTT over GSM (5G/4G/2G).
- Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
