We are looking for a strong HCPC registered BMS with multiple years experience within the NHS.
· Equal split of dissection and IHC. Rotates across every area of the lab.
· Needs to be comfortable across the full pathway: specimen receipt, dissection, downstream processing and digitisation.
· Specimen categories A to C, able to hit the ground running. D and E are not needed.
· Main specialties: skin, gynae and GI, plus breast. The lab also has a neuropathology base.
· 48-hour turnaround from specimen arrival to diagnosis. No backlogs. About 200,000 samples this year.
· Digital pathology: slides are digitised onto an AI-enabled platform and reported by a remote network of 200 to 250 pathologists.
· First lab in the UK to use an AI tool for specimen descriptions during dissection.
· IHC repertoire is expanding into prostate and breast markers.
· Coaching and training BMSs and MLAs is a core part of the job. Seniors are also handed projects.
· UKAS accredited. IBMS training lab application submitted.
Must be based in the UK and fully registered with the HCPC—no exceptions here, folks!
If your lab life revolves around histology, IHC, or digital pathology, you're our kind of scientist
Experience with specimen categories A to C? Check. Comfortable with dissection and IHC? Double check
Must be able to commit to shift work and the odd weekend work.
