ABOUT ZENOBE

Our mission is to make clean power accessible. We are passionate about making a positive impact on communities and the environment where we work. We’re designing, financing, building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the take up of more renewable power, electrifying fleets for cleaner air, and providing clean, portable power including repurposed electric vehicle batteries. Our proprietary software and data analysis optimises operational performance for our customers to reduce emissions and costs.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Cloud Platform team is a central team in the Product Management and Engineering department. We provide both tactical daily assistance to our colleagues in the application teams, as well as think ahead about what our Internal Developer Platform needs to offer to facilitate Zenobe’s ambitious goals. We are seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Software Engineer to join our team and be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure to support Zenobe’s applications and services. You will help the development of our AWS cloud architecture using automation and DevOps practices. This will include CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and system monitoring. Collaborating closely with development teams, you will troubleshoot complex issues, optimise performance, and enforce compliance with industry standards. Your role will also include evaluating emerging cloud technologies to align with business goals and drive innovation. While the whole team reports into the Engineering Manager, as a Senior engineer you will be involved with mentoring other engineers, helping your team grow, and taking on some team and project leadership activities.

A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY

Our team is structured in a way to avoid the context switching associated with being both a reactive and proactive team, however over a typical week you can expect a typical day to be a mix of being a go-to person when another team or another Cloud team member is facing an unknown issue with a production or pre-production workload, to planning, leading and executing on our ideas for a more reliable and scalable usage of AWS. Collaborate across teams to deliver scalable, real-time and batch data pipelines that support our products and analytics. Support and mentor teammates, sharing knowledge and reviewing designs and code to maintain a high standard of engineering quality. Contribute to the architecture and evolution of our data platform — balancing short-term delivery needs with long-term scalability and maintainability. Partner with stakeholders such as product, analytics, and data science teams to understand data needs and build fit-for-purpose solutions. Help the team unblock technical issues through pragmatic decisions and by bringing your experience to bear on tough problems. Promote good practices in data engineering, including testing, scalability, maintainability, observability, documentation, and reliability. Drive incremental improvement by contributing to platform-level tooling, automation, and performance enhancements. Participate in code reviews, planning, design discussions and general chit-chat, contributing to a healthy, inclusive, and collaborative engineering culture.

Health and Safety

Actively contribute to Zenobe's commitment to health and safety, wellbeing and sustainability by integrating these principles into daily responsibilities, ensuring a safe and supportive work environment, promoting both the physical and mental health of self and colleagues, and adopting sustainable and energy-efficient practices to minimize environmental impact.
