THE OPPORTUNITY
Zenobe is looking for a skilled and driven engineer to join the Portable Power team. This role will be responsible for contributing to the execution of asset management processes, project installation and customer technical support. The engineer will become a product specialist in mobile BESS and temporary power and apply this knowledge to support projects and customers across multiple industries such as construction, events, utilities and medical. The role will be based at our Portsmouth facility but will involve regular travel to sites.
A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY
- Support Facility Operations
- Processing of BESS, spares and tools in line with ISO standards
- Maintenance and Fleet readiness
- Perform pre and post deployment inspections and testing
- Diagnose and coordinate repair of units
- Carry out scheduled maintenance
- Coordinate compliant BESS transport
- Fleet Technical Support
- Provide ad‑hoc technical support to projects including scheduled on‑call periods out of hours
- Troubleshoot systems remotely and on‑site to minimise downtime
- Support rapid mobilisation and demobilisation of equipment
- Installation, Commissioning and Decommissioning
- Support set up of mobile BESS at customer sites
- Verify electrical connections, earthing and safety
- Configure system parameters to suit application
- Oversee safe shutdown and return‑to‑fleet readiness
- Customer and Operations Support
- As part of wider team, act as technical liaison between customers, L1, BD and engineering
- Provide training and support during handover
- Assist with demonstrations and pilot projects
- Documentation and Process Improvement
- Complete service reports, fault logs and deployment records
- Support development of standard operating procedures

- An Electrical Engineer or hands on Electrician with site based experience
- 2–5 + years experience in temporary power, energy storage or field service
- BS7671 Certification
- Valid full UK driving licence
- Excellent organisational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of:
- Mobile or containerised BESS
- Hybrid and microgrid systems (BESS + generators)
- Inverters, PCS, BMS and EMS
- SCADA, monitoring systems
- AC/DC power distribution and safety
