THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking to recruit a Technical Project Manager with experience in the energy market to support the growth of the Network & Infrastructure business, driving the delivery of our Operational Control solution work packages across some of the most interesting and large‑scale BESS projects in Europe. The candidate will bring a good understanding of proposal and project management, have a proven experience in the delivery of technical projects, and have the engineering capability and credibility to manage projects through development and delivery phases. Reporting into the Head of Operational Technology, the role integrates with team members in procurement, legal, finance, engineering and construction to build complex, highly optimised SCADA products, backed up by solid contracts. The role includes liaising with third parties and managing contractors and other external stakeholders in addition to internal subject matter experts. It will be a requirement to hit the ground running and to be comfortable operating at a rapid pace to ensure the overall BESS projects have these critical work packages delivered on time and to budget. The role is flexible in location and will require occasional travel to and from the project site and the London Head Office.

A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY

  • Program & Project Management
    • Proactively lead the Operational Technology project lifecycle of multiple BESS projects and programs from development through commissioning and handover ensuring alignment with wider project schedule and requirements.
    • Develop and manage integrated project plans, project costs, tracking and reporting progress against key milestones.
    • Ensure effective governance, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
    • Identify project risks to milestone delivery and integration timelines.
    • Proactively elevate blockers impacting project phases or deliverables.
  • Technical Coordination & Integration Support
    • Work closely with Zenobe internal SMEs to support the development of system architecture, integration design (EMS, PCS, SCADA, Network), technical specifications.
    • Support the integration process by ensuring clear communication of requirements to suppliers, alignment on interfaces and responsibilities, and timely resolution of technical queries and dependencies.
    • Track and manage technical risks, assumptions, and open issues.
    • Review and support adherence to industry standards, cybersecurity best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Client & Supplier Liaison
    • Act as the primary interface between clients, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the project lifecycle to drive alignment through structured delivery plans, milestone tracking and regular progress and coordination meetings.
    • Ensure all parties are aligned on deliverables, timelines, responsibilities across each project phase.
    • Facilitate technical workshops, design reviews, and milestone reviews.
    • Coordinate cross‑functional resolution of issues by engaging relevant SMEs and stakeholders.

Essential skills

  • Project and proposal management
  • Project controls management including scheduling, cost control, change management, etc.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and MS Project
  • Technical background in Industrial Operational Technology (SCADA, PLC, OT Networks)
  • Strong planning, risk management and organisational skills, team player
  • Pragmatic, proactive and solution driven
  • Strong commercial skills – comfortable with legal contracts and project commercials
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting project updates
  • Experience managing projects through the construction and commissioning phases

Essential competencies

  • High quality education in engineering (C&I Engineering preferred)
  • Solid work experience (minimum 4 years) in engineering / Project management / technical consultant in energy storage or renewables sectors
  • Knowledge of the UK energy storage landscape
  • Sound understanding of the technical, performance and integration of power plant control systems
  • Experience with DNO and TO connection works and Balance of Plant equipment
  • Good experience dealing with customers and suppliers
  • Ability to work in the HQ in London and travel UK wide and internationally
  • Desire to work in a fast moving, high‑pressure and entrepreneurial environment

Desirable but non-essential skills

  • Knowledge of the US and Australia markets
  • Project Management Qualification (APM, Prince2 etc.)
  • Experience in Agile, SCRUM, Kanban methodologies
