THE OPPORTUNITY
Zenobe is hiring a Commissioning Engineer to join our growing Electric Vehicle division. As part of the Commissioning team, you will work closely with our partners and internal departments to ensure the successful deployment of our technical assets, such as network equipment, chargers, and software deployment. You will also assist on site handovers of new sites with our Construction and Products team, ensuring that all technical requirements are met, and any issues are resolved. You will travel extensively across the UK to our clients’ locations, such as bus depots and fleet operators. You will also be expected to provide remote support/travel to locations outside of the UK to support commissioning activities respecting their time zone.
The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic, motivated, and willing to learn new technologies and systems, while happy to travel to various sites daily.
A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY
- Travel to sites across the UK (and internationally where required) to complete commissioning activities including troubleshooting, RJ45 terminations, cable testing, and software commissioning.
- Configure and test EV chargers, including load testing, firmware updates, and fault resolution.
- Configure Acuvim and related metering equipment on-site or remotely.
- Read and work from network and electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLDs); assemble and configure network cabinets and related equipment.
- Manage and oversee subcontractors installing network equipment; ensure structured cabling meets compliance standards.
- Complete site software commissioning as when required.
- Complete site commissioning checklists to ensure smooth handover to the Operations team.
- Respond to and resolve operational issues, escalating and reporting as required.
- Support electrical compliance activities as needed.
- Fault finding on local network infrastructure across Copper and Fibre.
- Conduct asset management for installed and client-owned equipment.
- Deliver scripted product training to EVC customers on-site.
- Contribute to internal documentation, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Collaborate with Delivery, Product, and Technical Sales teams to communicate site issues and improvements.
- Comply with company ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 27001 policies.
- Required to work nationally in UK.

- Preferred Electrical Engineer with Commercial and Industrial experience.
- Working experience with EV chargers.
- Experienced working safely within active CDM Regulated sites.
- Understanding of network topology & SLDs.
- City & Guilds Level 3 EV Charging Course (Preferred but not essential).
- City & Guilds Electrotechnical qualification (Essential or equivalent).
- Understanding of technical documentation management and willingness to learn.
- You are adaptable – growth means fast-pace and constant change, you handle uncertainty with a positive, solution-oriented attitude.
- Familiarity with RAMS & H&S legislation.
- Comfortable managing and working with 3rd parties or contractors.
- Valid clean full UK driving license.
- Experience with OCPP.
- Experience working at height (desirable).
