THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a fixed‑term Energy Trading Analyst to support day‑to‑day energy market trading decisions for our EV portfolio. Zenobe is innovating in the domain of EV flexibility trading and is looking for someone to run our daily trading operation while we develop an internal scalable product. The role primarily focuses on data processing and analysis to ensure the daily trading process is running to the highest standards. You will work closely with trading, software, and data teams to analyse EV fleet charging profiles, forecast demand and prices, and deliver accurate, timely data to support market participation. The role also involves process automation and data pipeline development, ensuring workflows are efficient and scalable. While the role relies heavily on manually processing data across multiple platforms, the ideal candidate will be using python to automate as much of the manual work as possible. This fixed term role is a great opportunity to get hands on experience in an innovative and exciting industry as part of the Commercial Analytics team.

A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY

  • Data Processing
    • Extracting energy price, auction results and operational data
    • Build and maintain excel‑based tooling models to support trading decisions
    • Produce insights that directly inform day‑to‑day trading activities
  • Trading Support
    • Provide data‑driven inputs to support daily trading on wholesale electricity market
    • Monitor market settlements, and update P&L report and market participation metrics
    • Support issue resolution with ELEXON and EPEX
    • Collaborate with traders/senior stakeholders to ensure data is accurate and actionable
  • Data Pipelines
    • Support the development of automated data pipelines to streamline data ingestion, cleaning, and reporting
    • Develop Python scripts and/or Excel‑based tools to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency
    • Maintain in‑house analytical tools for forecasting, performance monitoring, and reporting
    • Leverage AI tools (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development, automate workflows, and enhance data analysis

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • STEM qualification (e.g. engineering, applied physics), 1st or 2‑1
  • Good understanding of UK energy markets and trading fundamentals
  • Advanced Excel skills for data processing, modelling, and reporting
  • Good python skills
  • Experience with AI‑assisted development tools to automate data processing, analysis, or coding tasks
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills
  • Curious, proactive, and able to deliver data projects from concept to implementation

Desirable but non-essential skills

  • Additional software engineering/computer science skills e.g. SQL, AWS
  • Previous experience in energy market trading, data analysis, software or engineering role.
  • Master’s degree
