THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Contract Manager to support the management of operations and maintenance agreements across a growing Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) portfolio. The role will focus on administering, negotiating, and monitoring contracts with O&M service providers, and other key stakeholders to ensure contractual compliance, commercial performance, and operational efficiency. This position is suited to a mid-level professional with experience in contract management within the energy, infrastructure, renewables, or utilities sector, ideally with exposure to energy storage or asset operations.

A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY

  • Contract Management
    • Manage the lifecycle of O&M contracts, including drafting, review, execution, administration, amendments, renewals, and close-out.
    • Monitor compliance with contractual obligations, KPIs, SLAs, and reporting requirements.
    • Support the negotiation of commercial terms with service providers and partners.
    • Maintain contract records, correspondence, and documentation.
  • Commercial & Operational Support
    • Work closely with Asset Management & Operations, Finance, Legal, and Procurement teams to ensure contractual alignment with operational objectives.
    • Identify contractual risks, inconsistencies, and potential claims, and support mitigation strategies.
    • Work closely with the Performance and Operations teams to translate technical underperformance into actionable commercial claims, leading the quantification and recovery of Liquidated Damages (LDs) and performance penalties.
    • Assist in evaluating contractor and service provider performance against agreed deliverables.
    • Support dispute resolution processes and coordinate contractual communications where required.
  • Stakeholder Coordination
    • Act as a key point of contact for contractual matters relating to BESS asset operations.
    • Coordinate with external stakeholders including O&M contractors and service providers.
    • Support lender query responses related to O&M contracts.
    • Support onboarding of new contracts into operational management.
    • Act as a key stakeholder in Zenobe’s stage-gate process, ensuring that all contractual handovers from Delivery to Operations are commercially sound and fully documented in internal systems.
  • Reporting & Governance
    • Prepare regular contract status reports, risk summaries, and performance updates for management.
    • Ensure contracts comply with internal governance standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
    • Support budget planning and cost control of the spend under O&M contracts.
    • Responsible for the annual validation of indexation calculations and the creation of payment plans for all BESS and BOP contracts to ensure billing accuracy.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of contract management processes and templates.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Engineering, Energy Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in contract management, commercial management in asset operations environment.
  • Experience within renewable energy, utilities, infrastructure, or energy storage sectors preferred.
  • Familiarity with framework agreements, O&M contracts, managed service agreements is advantageous.
  • Understanding of BESS operations, ancillary services markets, or renewable asset management is desirable.

  • Ability to interpret contractual language and identify commercial risk.
