This is an excellent opportunity for a Chinese – English Translator, to work at our clients engineering site to support seamless communication between Chinese and English-speaking teams. This role involves translating technical and business content, interpreting during meetings, and ensuring cultural nuances are respected. This is a full-time role requiring at least a one-year commitment.

Responsibilities:

  • Document Translation: Accurately translate technical documents, business reports, and internal communications between Chinese and English.
  • Meeting Interpretation: Provide real-time interpretation during meetings, conferences, and training sessions, ensuring clarity and mutual understanding.
  • Content Localisation: Adapt training materials, presentations, and other communications to reflect cultural and linguistic differences between China and the U.K.
  • Cultural Mediation: Bridge cultural differences between Chinese and U.K. teams, promoting effective collaboration and mutual respect.
  • Technical Support: Leverage an engineering background to accurately translate technical terms and concepts.
  • Terminology Management: Develop and maintain a glossary of technical terms to ensure consistent and high-quality translations.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with multiple departments to manage translation projects and ensure timely delivery.

Experience & qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Engineering, Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken Chinese and English, with excellent grammar and vocabulary in both languages.
  • Ability to commit to a full-time role for at least one year.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate, context-sensitive translations.
  • Familiarity with translation tools (e.g., Trados, MemoQ) is a plus.
  • Understanding of cultural differences between China and the U.K., with the ability to navigate cross-cultural communication effectively.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and time management skills.
