We are currently recruiting for a skilled Maintenance Shift Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business based in East Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased engineer with strong mechanical skills to join a busy production environment offering a salary of £48,000+ and working on a double day shift system (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm Monday to Friday).

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out both proactive and reactive maintenance across a range of manufacturing machinery and site equipment, while also supporting ongoing project and improvement work across the facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs across production equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and resolve electrical and mechanical issues efficiently to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain electrical control systems, drives, PLCs, motors, pumps, gearboxes, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Install and modify electrical and mechanical equipment in line with current regulations.
  • Support and deliver project work including machinery upgrades and process improvements.
  • Work closely with production teams to maximise plant performance and efficiency.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Participate in daily shift handovers and communicate ongoing issues effectively.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Qualified electrician with additional mechanical maintenance experience.
  • NVQ / City & Guilds qualified in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or process environment.
  • Strong fault-finding abilities across electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience working with PLCs, drives, control systems, conveyors, pumps and process equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a small engineering team.
