The Opportunity
An established 24/7 processing facility in Nottingham is seeking a Shift Electrician to join its engineering team. This is a hands-on role carrying out electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations to keep the site operating efficiently. The position offers a 4 on / 4 off days-only shift pattern, providing a structured work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on plant equipment.
  • Monitor electrical systems to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • Undertake electrical installations and upgrade projects across the site.
  • Deliver both planned and reactive maintenance in line with schedules.
  • Support the operation of site services including steam raising, odour control, and effluent treatment systems.
  • Assist colleagues across engineering and production to minimise downtime.
  • Provide call-out cover on a rotational basis (details discussed at interview).
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.

What We\’re Looking For

  • Recognised City & Guilds apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong electrical maintenance experience within a continuous process or manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to fault-find and repair breakdowns quickly.
  • Knowledge of PLC logic and inverter drives (desirable).
  • Basic mechanical skills to support wider engineering tasks.
  • Familiar with general factory maintenance practices and process operations.
  • Safety-focused, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple teams.
