Company Overview

AI is driving data center power consumption to more than double, from ~460 TWh today to a projected 1,000 TWh by 2030, roughly the electricity consumption of Japan! Hyperscalers and AI companies are racing to secure compute capacity, while new grid connections in key markets are queued years out. Meanwhile, capacity sits stranded in existing infrastructure, managed through outdated models that were never built to handle the power-dense workloads coming rapidly down the pike. At Zendo we're developing the operating layer that enables operators to get more value from every watt. Our Energy OS platform brings together operational data, energy intelligence, and proprietary load forecasting across the data center power stack to help operators access more capacity, sooner.

Your Role as Product Engineer

You'll work directly with our Founding Engineer (ex-Meta) and the founders to own the customer-facing side of Zendo’s platform — the interfaces, workflows, and orchestration logic that turn complex energy data into decisions data center operators can act on.

  • Capacity allocation product — driving the core operator-facing product toward feature-completion, shipping the functionality that operators need to manage and sell capacity with confidence.
  • Building out the product to handle more complex, fast-moving allocation scenarios as AI tenant demand evolves.
  • Operator-tenant orchestration — building the layer that sits between operators and AI tenants, enabling dynamic capacity requests, allocation, and signalling in real time.
  • Interface and UX — owning how the product looks and feels, translating complex energy data into interfaces that are intuitive for data centre operators.
  • API design — designing and building the APIs that underpin the orchestration layer, enabling operators to interact with capacity data programmatically.
  • Live customer environment and product iteration — working directly with live customers on real operational data from day one, with short feedback loops between what you build and how it performs in the field.

What We're Looking For

  • 4–6 years of full-stack engineering experience, comfortable working across the stack from UI to API to backend logic.
  • Experience managing complex business logic, translating real-world ambiguity into an intuitive API & frontend.
  • Familiarity with standard frontend languages and frameworks (React, CSS, javascript).
  • Track record of shipping in early-stage environments. You'll built from zero, not just inherited a mature codebase.
  • Ability to work directly with customers, identifying real-world needs and materializing them into product direction.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with data centres, energy markets, or electrical or mechanical systems.
  • Background building products for highly-technical users and navigating the trade-offs between visual clarity and oversimplification.
  • Experience working in fast-paced delivery environments, proven experience building MVPs quickly and scaling later.

Beyond the CV:

  • You take ownership end-to-end without waiting to be told what to do next.
  • You're comfortable with fast iteration and changing requirements without losing sight of quality.
  • You think in outcomes — you care whether the product actually solves the problem, not just whether the feature shipped.
  • You're energized by working on a small team where your decisions have immediate, visible impact.

What We're Offering

  • A ground-floor, high-ownership role at a well-backed startup at one of the most exciting intersections in tech right now — AI compute and energy.
  • Work directly with the founding team and a growing network of strategic advisors and investors.
  • Access to a lovely co-working space in the heart of London’s Knowledge Quarter.
  • Quarterly team offsites and socials.
  • Competitive salary and equity.

Location & Requirements

  • Hybrid: We work 1–2 days/week from co-working spaces in London (King's Cross).
  • Right to Work: You must have the legal right to work in the UK. We are unfortunately unable to sponsor visas at this time.

If you're excited about building the future of energy infrastructure for the AI era, we'd love to hear from you!
