Special needs teaching assistants required for Special needs school North of Bristol Zen Educate are looking for experienced candidates in working or supporting special needs to take on full time opportunities at a specials needs school in outside of North Bristol. This would be working with a wide range of ages and needs including those on the autistism spectrum, SLD and complex needs, among others. Working hours are 8:30-3:30, Monday to Friday and term time only. We are interested in speaking with anyone that has worked in a school setting before, supported children in a care background, or even supported adults with special needs and want to move their skills to children. The school have a dedicated team and great ethos in providing the best possible education for vulnerable students in the wider area. Since the school is just beyond the Bristol city limit, ideally we would welcome any suitabile applicamnts that have access to a car, but we can still consider others that have are in a good position to get public transport from the right parts of the city. Requirements; – Follow the instructions laid out by the teacher or senior members of staff when supporting students on a 1:1 or group basis. – Have experience in supporting those with special needs, and whilst its not always required, some students may need help with toileting, so being comfortable with this would be advantagous. – Follow the education healthcare plan for each student around their learning needs and also their care. – Have lots of patience, empathy and nuturing tendancies when supporthing these students. Consistency and reliability are equally important since students can be really sensitive to change. – Work well both in a team dynamic but also able to work well alone should situations call for it. Strong communication skills are also essential, especially around student progress and feedback to other members of staff and parents. – An enhanced DBS on the update service, either via one already held, or as part of your application.
