UK schools spend well over £2bn per year on covering short-term absences with supply teachers. The current model exclusively relies on agencies that are terribly inefficient (everything is paper and phone-call-based). We are consolidating this analogue, fragmented, and inefficient marketplace onto a digital platform. Think Uber for supply teachers. In the process, we are pulling hundreds of millions of waste out of the education system and making a huge positive impact on teachers and schools. Zen allows them to reliably connect and get back to what really matters … our children!
Looking to make a difference? We are well-funded by high-profile investors and are led by start-up veterans behind two of London’s most prominent tech companies. You’ll be joining Zen in a key position. As Zen’s MAT Sales Director you’ll be responsible for increasing the rate at which we acquire and retain Multi Academy Trusts and other large groups of users, as longstanding customers. Our sales processes have served us well so far and we’re looking for someone to take our sales machine to the next level.
What you’ll be doing:
- Deliver on ambitious growth targets.
- Diversify the channels through which we initiate new relationships with MAT leaders. Improve sales processes to shorten time-to-value and increase usage.
- Collaborate with Marketing to effectively evangelise Zen Educate’s impact, solutions and services with MAT and school leaders. Collaborate constantly with others to ensure your team’s efforts lead to long-term repeat usage.
- Expand the value proposition to MATs and schools through effective partnerships or service enhancements. Inform Product development to ensure innovation solves the biggest problems for MAT leaders.
- Build, train and retain a high performing team.
- Align sales efforts with company goals and priorities as they change throughout the school year.
What we are looking for:
- Track record of owning and delivering on targets in a high growth leader obsessed about maintaining a high performance culture.
- Experience with driving urgency in sales cycles with long lead times, to large organisations.
- Experience managing a large volume of tender submissions and with winning tenders.
- Experience collaborating effectively with other teams in a usage-based sales environment.
- Dedication to learning and training a team of driven sales professionals.
- No ego – full of ideas but equally open to committing to other people’s ideas.
- Excellent people skills for working with both our customers and teams at Zen.
Ideal experience:
- Experience selling to schools and Multi Academy Trusts.
- Prior knowledge of the UK education sector.
- Love to geek out on sales management books such as Predictable Revenue, The Sales Acceleration Formula and many others.
What’s in it for you?
- Work that you want to talk about.
- Competitive salary.
- Ownership in the company.
- 25 days of holiday.
- Central London office with perks like fresh fruit, bike parking, showers and an on-site gym and café.
- Shorter hours in school holidays.
- Fun-loving, tight-knit team solving a problem that makes a difference.
- 1-1 coaching.
- Life Insurance.
- Health Insurance.
Diversity and inclusion: We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds, and different experiences and perspectives — just like the staff who teach through Zen and the children at the schools we work with. We believe in hiring the best people from the widest pool and creating an inclusive atmosphere with a culture where people’s voices are heard and all our team can look forward to coming to work. We value and respect all differences in all people (seen and unseen). We believe in an environment with equal access to career development opportunities and actively encourage applications from BAME candidates.
