Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Resource Base (ASD Support)

Location: Patchway Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Start Date: As soon as possible About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our team. This full-time position is based within our specialist resource base, supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), many of whom are non-verbal and have complex communication needs. As an LSA in our resource base, you will work closely with the class teacher, SEND team, and external professionals to create a safe, engaging, and structured learning environment. You’ll play a vital role in helping children access the curriculum, build communication and social skills, and make meaningful progress in their education and personal development. Key Responsibilities: – Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with ASD. – Use visual aids, communication tools (e.g. PECS, Makaton), and sensory strategies to support learning and engagement. – Assist with personal care routines when required. – Work collaboratively with the teaching team and therapists to implement individualised learning plans. – Support children’s emotional and social development in a respectful and patient manner. – Help maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive classroom environment.
