Zen Educate is seeking a dedicated and compassionate ALN-school Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team. This full-time role is integral to supporting our school's mission to provide an inclusive, nurturing environment where every learner is valued and empowered. Working closely with the classroom team and specialists, you will help students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and behavioural challenges access the curriculum and develop essential life skills. The position is suitable for individuals committed to making a positive impact in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH and ASD, ensuring their individual needs are met in line with personalised learning plans.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour support strategies and personalised intervention plans to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that aligns with the school's ethos of respect, kindness, and holistic development.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents/carers to support each student’s progress and well-being.
  • Use de-escalation techniques and proactive behaviour management strategies to support students in managing their emotions and behaviour.
  • Support the development of social skills, emotional resilience, and independence among pupils through tailored activities and consistent approaches.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Proven experience supporting children with SEMH, ASD, and/or challenging behaviour within an educational setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach that aligns with the school's values of kindness and understanding.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and knowledge of positive intervention techniques.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, a TA qualification, or Team Teach certification are desirable but not essential.
