Zen Educate is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a specialist ASD base within a supportive secondary school setting. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, supporting both their academic progress and social-emotional development. Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support to students with ASD, ensuring their individual education and support plans are delivered effectively.
- Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet a range of communication and learning needs, including sensory sensitivities and structured learning preferences.
- Support classroom teachers with lesson delivery, resource preparation, and behaviour management using positive, proactive strategies.
- Foster the development of literacy, numeracy, communication, and social interaction skills in line with each student’s targets.
- Use structured approaches (such as visual supports, routines, and clear expectations) to create a predictable and secure learning environment.
- Support students during unstructured times (e.g. break and lunch) to encourage positive peer interactions and social confidence.
- Promote independence and emotional regulation, helping students to develop coping strategies and resilience.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to support.
- Monitor student progress, providing feedback and contributing to reviews and planning.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that reflects the school’s commitment to wellbeing and inclusion.
