Position: Full-Time, Long-Term (Permanent opportunity available for successful candidates)

Pay Rate: £90 – £104 per day (depending on experience)

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join the Specialist school in Newport. This role involves providing tailored support to pupils from 3–19 years with autism, helping them to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and additional learning needs.
  • Assist with classroom activities and help adapt lessons to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage social interaction and positive behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils' emotional and developmental needs, fostering independence and confidence.
Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience supporting pupils with autism or additional learning needs is highly desirable.
  • A strong interest or experience in platforms such as Minecraft, Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer, or similar hobbies that align with the pupils' interests.
  • Sports background, or performing arts highly desirable.
  • Key patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate well with pupils, staff, and parents.
