Hi, I’m Clint, Head of Account Management for Wales at Zen Educate, and I’m looking for recruitment consultants who want to tackle a very real, very important problem: helping schools get the teachers they need, when they need them, without wasting millions on old‑school recruitment agencies. If you’re someone who loves building relationships, solving meaningful problems, and being part of a mission‑driven team… this might be your thing.
What we’re building and why:
UK schools spend over £2 billion a year on temporary staff, of which £600 million goes to recruitment agencies. Zen Educate is an online platform that gives schools instant access to fully vetted teachers and support staff. Since 2017 we have saved schools over £30 million. We have recently closed a $37 million Series B and are scaling fast in the UK and the US.
What this role looks like in practice:
- Own relationships with key schools to help them hire smarter and faster.
- Lead school leaders through recruitment processes with a consultative approach.
- Pick up the phone and build genuine relationships, focusing on helping rather than selling.
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Ops, and the Tech team to provide the best possible experience for schools.
- Roll up your sleeves and tackle varied tasks in a dynamic startup environment.
- Chat to Headteachers about savings, source teachers, follow up for expansion, share feedback with product team, work with Ops on booking issues, brainstorm pipeline improvements.
Who you are:
- Enthusiastic, curious, and confident on the phone.
- Track record of hitting sales targets or similar KPIs.
- Team player who enjoys a close‑knit group.
- Passionate about social impact and education.
- Growth mindset, always learning and improving.
What you might like or dislike:
Situations you might love:
- Work that has a tangible social impact.
- Fast‑paced, evolving environment.
- Mission‑driven startup scaling rapidly.
Situations you might find tricky:
- Highly structured corporate environments with fixed processes.
- Discomfort with ambiguity.
- Inconsistent phone conversations with decision‑makers.
What’s in it for you:
- Meaningful work helping schools save money and pay teachers more.
- Competitive salary plus equity.
- 25 days holiday plus all standard UK public holidays.
- 1‑1 coaching for personal and professional growth.
- Life & Health Insurance, Cycle to Work Scheme, Electric Car Scheme.
How we hire:
- Quick chat with recruiter.
- Role‑focused conversation on account management approach.
- Commercial skills and culture interview with team.
Diversity & inclusion:
At Zen, we strive to build a culture of equity and inclusion, respecting, valuing, and appreciating every individual’s traits, experiences and perspectives. We are committed to a safe, inclusive and equitable environment that reflects the diversity of our community. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and seek equitable hiring.
Please note before applying: this role is based full‑time at our Newport office and requires onsite attendance five days per week during term time. We encourage applications from candidates who live in or near the local area, or plan on relocating.
Ready to make a difference? If you’ve read this far and are excited (maybe a little nervous) about the opportunity, apply now. We’d love to chat.
