At Zempler Bank, we’re looking for a Platform Engineer who takes pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our core technology platforms are secure, stable, and performing at their best so our customers and colleagues can rely on them every day. This is a hands‑on operational role where you’ll be involved in monitoring, incident management, service requests, and ongoing platform maintenance.

You’ll support areas such as Microsoft 365, identity and access management, patching, vulnerability remediation, and backup and disaster recovery while also helping us spot opportunities to improve and automate how we work. You’ll work within ITIL‑aligned processes, carrying out root cause analysis, tracking trends, and helping us meet our service standards, while collaborating closely with teams across the bank and our external partners. More complex issues are escalated to our SRE team, but your input and ownership will make a real difference day‑to‑day. This role forms part of a 24/7 support and change environment supporting critical business services.

We’re proud to offer one of the most flexible hybrid working models in the industry. For this role, we ask for a minimum of one day per week in our London Bridge office, with flexibility around the rest of your working week.

What you’ll be doing

  • Keep things running – Monitor systems, triage incidents and alerts, and resolve issues quickly, escalating where needed
  • Support our people – Manage service requests within SLAs and keep communication clear and helpful
  • Strengthen our security – Deliver patching, vulnerability remediation, and certificate management across our platforms
  • Own platform health – Support backup, disaster recovery, and resilience planning
  • Manage core services – Administer Microsoft 365, licensing, and cloud environments (including cost awareness)
  • Drive improvement – Use automation (e.g. PowerShell) and runbooks to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency
  • Keep us future‑ready – Support lifecycle management, upgrades, and capacity planning
  • Collaborate and learn – Work closely with our SRE team and colleagues across the bank to solve problems and improve how we operate
  • Stay accountable – Maintain accurate records, reporting, and governance standards

What we’re looking for

We’re open to different backgrounds, but you’ll likely bring a mix of the following:

  • Experience in Platform, Infrastructure, or Systems Engineering
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive, problem‑solving mindset
  • Knowledge of patching, vulnerability management, and remediation processes
  • Experience managing certificates and a good understanding of PKI
  • Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Windows Server, Active Directory, and core infrastructure services
  • Experience with software deployment or packaging tools
  • Exposure to lifecycle and asset management
  • Scripting experience (e.g. PowerShell) to support automation and efficiency

Nice to have

  • Experience working with Azure or other cloud platforms
  • Exposure to SRE, DevOps, or automation tooling
  • Understanding of security frameworks (e.g. NIST, PCI‑DSS)
  • Knowledge of network or application security principles

Benefits

  • Competitive basic salary
  • Additional benefit allowance representing 7.5% of your annual salary allowing you the flexibility to decide your own benefits (or simply absorb this into your monthly income).
  • 26 days’ holiday increasing each year of service to 33 days
  • Ability to buy and sell a further 5 days holiday each year
  • 4 x Life Assurance
  • Pension salary sacrifice
  • Option for LinkedIn Learning license
  • Family friendly policies
  • Regular social activities and team events
  • Charity Volunteering Day

We want to hear from people with different backgrounds, experiences and ways of thinking. If you’re excited by this role but don’t meet every requirement, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’ll support you to do your best work and thrive at Zempler Bank.
