Our first focus is to develop and scale technology that measures and mitigates methane emissions in the livestock industry.

As Field Application Engineer within ZELP, you will play a fundamental role in directly influencing the development of ZELP's emissions measurement technology, by supporting field trials and working closely with our passionate engineering teams to help drive improvements through real-world feedback from on cow testing. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys getting hands-on with hardware, and communicates well with cross-functional teams. You'll be the key link between our lab, engineering, and field deployments.

Remote working: On-site primarily away from the office, up to 5 remote working days p/annum.

  • Seamlessly interface with animal scientists, farm staff as well as engineers.
  • Primarily based at field trial locations both within and out of the UK.
  • Actively contribute to successful device trials, which is crucial in our publication of academically rigorous research papers demonstrating the device's function to our customers.
  • Lead the maintenance of devices to ensure optimal performance in trials and customer demonstrations.
  • Identify potential failure modes from first hand field observations.
  • Troubleshoot areas for improvement with the mechanical, electronic and software systems in the field e.g. fatigued connectors, loss of sensor data, part wear.
  • Document trial outcomes & field insights into clear, actionable feedback to inform and direct future design iterations.
  • Assist with the organisation and preparation of field trials.
  • Conduct detailed pre-field lab based validation testing.
  • Contribute to hands-on assembly of small batches of devices.

Required experience:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Biomedical, or related Engineering discipline.
