Job Purpose
To provide comprehensive physiotherapy services that promote the physical health, wellbeing, and productivity of all employees. The role includes the prevention, assessment, and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, ergonomic advice, and rehabilitation, ensuring a healthy workforce in line with Unilever’s global health objectives.
Job Summary
- Physiotherapy and Occupational Health Care: Conduct musculoskeletal assessments for new employees to identify potential risks and provide advice to prevent work-related injuries. Perform periodic assessments to evaluate employee health, focusing on risk-based medical surveillance, including assessments for retirement, ill health, and return-to-work planning. Deliver prompt physiotherapy interventions to minimize lost time due to work-related injuries. Develop and monitor rehabilitation programs, collaborating with other health professionals as necessary. Maintain accurate, up-to-date medical and treatment records in compliance with confidentiality standards, while providing necessary data to the company. Investigate trends in musculoskeletal injuries to identify workplace hazards and work with management to develop preventative health and safety strategies.
- Workplace Health Promotion and Ergonomics: Conduct ergonomic assessments to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and improve workplace safety. Implement and lead health programs, including initiatives targeting chronic conditions, mental wellbeing, and injury prevention. Educate employees on health and ergonomic practices through formal and informal sessions, focusing on injury prevention and self-care.
- Collaboration and Communication: Communicate relevant health information and recommendations to management, HR, and other stakeholders, including fit-to-work assessments. Liaise with external service providers as required to support employee health and rehabilitation. Represent the Occupational Health and Physiotherapy department at internal and external meetings, providing insights on employee health trends and preventative strategies. Collaborate closely with the wider Occupational Health team, including Occupational Health Nurses and Physicians, to ensure holistic care for employees.
- Administration and Reporting: Maintain detailed and accurate records of all assessments, treatments, and interventions. Prepare monthly reports for management, detailing service outcomes, trends, and any recommendations for workplace health improvements. Monitor and manage the inventory of physiotherapy and health-related supplies, ensuring the clinic is adequately equipped. Contribute to the development and review of occupational health policies and procedures.
Key Requirements
- Qualifications: BSc (Hons) or MSc in Physiotherapy. Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in occupational health, MSK physiotherapy, or related fields. Industrial experience, particularly in a corporate setting, is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, effective communication, and the ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in ergonomic assessments is essential.
- Additional Certifications: Experience in delivering health promotion programs, ergonomic assessments, or manual therapy techniques would be an advantage.
- Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and adherence to HCPC standards.
- Other Requirements: Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office. A valid driver’s license.
