Assistant Accountant – 7 months maternity cover with the possibility of extension

The Assistant Accountant will provide support to the Finance Manager/Director for the accounts of a number of diverse companies.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working in a friendly environment, is comfortable collaborating as part of a team, and is also confident working independently to produce high-quality work.
- Maintain an accurate aged debtor’s ledger over all companies, liaising with solicitors on aged debt where appropriate.
- Raising monthly and quarterly rental invoices across several sites and processing accurate direct debits for rental collection.
- Conduct weekly reconciliations of multiple bank accounts.
- Conduct quarterly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
- Authorising payment runs and making sure expenditure is approved via the correct channels.
- Managing accurate service charge accounts and quarterly invoices to tenants.
- Reconciling multiple intercompany accounts quarterly.
- Provide information to the Finance Director/Business Owner as instructed.
- Preparing month end figures for review with analysis of discrepancies (including accruals, prepayments, prepaid income, depreciation)
- Assisting the Finance Director in year-end accounts preparation

Experience and Skills Sought
Previous experience of Xero software
Confident working with intercompany balances and relevant journal postings
Strong analytical/problem solving skills
Have practical competency in management accounts
Previous experience of working in a similar role
Microsoft Office – Word Basic and Excel – Intermediate
Qualifications
AAT finalist or studying ACCA/CIMA
