Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service and solving technical challenges in the field? We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join a growing Technical Service team supporting advanced metrology and inspection systems across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMMs), Optical and X-ray systems, supporting customers across a variety of high-tech manufacturing environments.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working within the Industrial Quality Solutions (IQS) Division, at ZEISS, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing and calibration of specialist inspection equipment at customer sites.
  • You’ll play a key role in ensuring maximum machine uptime, delivering excellent technical support, and building strong customer relationships.
  • This is a field-based role working from home, with regular travel across the UK and occasional opportunities to support customers in Ireland and Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and commissioning of new and relocated CMM, Optical and X-ray systems
  • Service, calibration and preventative maintenance activities
  • Responding to customer breakdowns and resolving machine issues onsite and remotely
  • Providing first-class technical support and customer service
  • Diagnosing faults and escalating issues where required
  • Managing service documentation and reports via CRM/SAP systems
  • Liaising with internal teams regarding spare parts and service requirements
  • Supporting uptime and shift-working requests when required
  • Ensuring all work is completed in line with company Health & Safety procedures

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a Field Service Engineer or Service Technician role
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Experience working with metrology, CMM, optical inspection or precision engineering equipment would be highly advantageous
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
  • Flexible approach to travel and occasional overnight stays
  • Full UK Driving Licence
