Quality Engineering Intern: Process Improvement & Analytics in Cambourne

This is a fantastic opportunity to join ZEISS on a 12-month internship where you will gain exposure to different areas of the business, work with a variety of stakeholders, and support real continuous improvement projects that make a genuine impact.

What you’ll be doing:

• Engage with different teams across both businesses to understand current ways of working and key challenges.
• Map and document existing processes to create clear, structured process flows.
• Identify inefficiencies, gaps and improvement opportunities within current processes.
• Facilitate collaboration between teams to align on best practices and consistent approaches.
• Support the development and implementation of process improvements.
• Analyse quality and operational data to identify trends and support improvement initiatives.
• Develop dashboards and visualisations (e.g. Power BI) to track performance and key metrics.
• Support the definition and alignment of KPIs across departments and sites.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure improvements are practical, sustainable and adopted.
• Contribute to continuous improvement projects across the business.

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree or currently studying towards a degree. Placement year students, postgraduates seeking industry experience and recent graduates are all encouraged to apply.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in process improvement, quality and operational excellence.
• Curious mindset and a desire to understand how things work.
• Confident communicator who can engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Comfortable working across multiple teams and topics.
• Organised, proactive and able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Basic understanding of data analysis and visualisation; Power BI knowledge would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Interest in engineering and manufacturing environments.
• Comfortable working with process maps and flowcharts.
• A team player who brings enthusiasm and positivity to every call.
