About us
At Zego, we know that traditional motor insurance holds good drivers back. It\’s too complicated, too expensive, and it doesn\’t take into account how well you actually drive.
That\’s why, since 2016, we\’ve been on a mission to change all of that. Our mission at Zego is to offer the lowest priced insurance for good drivers.
From van drivers and gig workers to everyday car drivers, our customers are our driving force – they\’re at the heart of everything we do.
We\’ve sold tens of millions of policies so far, and raised over $200 million in funding. And we\’re only just getting started.
About the role
We\’re looking for a Senior Front End Engineer to help shape the future of our B2C products at Zego. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a cross-functional, agile, and diverse team that\’s focused on delivering intuitive, high-impact digital experiences to our customers.
Our B2C team is evolving rapidly- we\’re moving from a monolithic codebase to a modern microservices architecture, using a Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) approach. You\’ll be working with technologies like React, Next.js and TypeScript, building highly scalable and performant user interfaces.
What you will be doing
- Deliver a seamless, customer-first onboarding journey that supports a wide range of drivers and policy types.
- Contribute to backend services connected to the frontend
- Lead the development of new products and features with a focus on performance, maintainability, and scalability.
- Continuously improve and evolve our existing digital products to deliver market-leading insurance experiences.
- Mentor and support other engineers, helping to raise the bar for the entire team.
- Drive code quality through thoughtful code reviews, pair programming, and a strong QA mindset.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers to bring ideas to life-fast.
- Contribute to a high-performing engineering culture with CI/CD practices that allow us to deploy to production up to 20 times a day.
About you
- You have a strong passion for front end development and user experience.
- You bring full-stack experience but focus your expertise on frontend development. You\’re confident working across the stack when needed, including diving into backend code and making sense of the wider architecture
- You have commercial experience working with NextJS using protocols such as GraphQL and gRPC in a production environment.
- You\’re familiar with accessibility standards and understand how to build inclusive user interfaces.
- You\’ve seen projects through the entire development lifecycle, from ideation to production.
- You write clean, tested, and maintainable code and you care about getting it right.
- You\’re curious and proactive, always looking to improve, experiment, and learn.
- You will be someone who\’s actively curious about how AI can enhance your work – keen to experiment, learn quickly, and apply tools that improve productivity, streamline tasks, or unlock new ways of thinking. Whether you\’re already hands-on or fast building confidence, you take ownership of staying ahead and working smarter.
