About Zego

At Zego, we understand that traditional motor insurance holds good drivers back. It's too complicated, too expensive, and it doesn't reflect how well you actually drive. Since 2016, we have been on a mission to change that by offering the lowest priced insurance for good drivers. From van drivers and gig workers to everyday car drivers, our customers are the driving force behind everything we do. We've sold tens of millions of policies and raised over $200 million in funding and picked up numerous awards, including the Employer of The Year 2025 as awarded at The Insurance Post's Awards and we're only just getting started.

Purpose of the role

We're looking for a Group Risk Associate to join Zego's growing Risk team and play a key role in strengthening our enterprise-wide risk management framework. In this role, you'll help drive a consistent and proportionate approach to managing risk across both Zego and our Gibraltar-based insurer. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you'll support the implementation of our Group Risk Strategy, ensuring that robust governance, clear accountability, and sound decision-making underpin how we operate as a business. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with 2–5 years' experience in risk and compliance within financial services, ideally insurance, who is looking to develop their expertise within a fast-moving, tech-driven insurance company. You'll have a genuine impact on how Zego identifies, assesses, and manages risk as we continue to scale responsibly and innovate in the insurance space.

Key Responsibilities

    • Contribute to the maintenance of the Group Risk Universe, ensuring risks are up to date, accurately categorised, and aligned with the current business activities.
  • Risk Identification and Assessment
    • Take an active role in the identification and assessment of risks across the Group through regular Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs): Insurance risk, Financial risk, Operational & Regulatory risk.
    • Actively provide support in the identification and management of Risk Events.
    • Deliver risk workshops and thematic reviews aligned to business and regulatory priorities as part of the annual risk plan.
    • Help maintain the Group Risk Register in collaboration with the first line, and oversee the use of Zego's Group Risk and Compliance (GRC) solution.
  • Risk Appetite and Reporting
    • Support the development and maintenance of risk dashboards, KRI/KCI metrics, and risk monitoring reports.
    • Help to prepare reports for the relevant Risk and Governance Committees.
    • Monitor action plans arising from assurance activity.
    • Support documentation and escalation of incidents and control failures.
  • Advisory and Collaboration
    • Support the second line of defence by acting as a trusted partner to business teams, helping to provide constructive challenge and guidance on risk matters including conduct and regulatory risk.
    • Assist in reviewing risk considerations within new product approvals, business change projects, and third-party assessments, escalating issues or observations where appropriate.
    • Help promote a proactive risk culture by supporting delivery of risk training and awareness sessions, and highlight conduct and regulatory risk expectations.
    • Contribute to providing timely and insightful risk observations and insights to support business decision making and the early identification of emerging risks.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify and implement improvements to risk processes, data quality, and reporting efficiency.
    • Drive AI and automation initiatives to develop smarter risk metrics and strengthen integration of data into risk systems to enhance and optimise risk management practices.
