A 12-month fixed-term post in General Practice, 37.5 hours Monday to Friday. Start date flexible for the right person. We are looking to recruit a Paramedic to work in our busy Practice serving 22,800 patients across three sites. Employment will be through SWL PCN Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme. You would be joining a team of Paramedics within SWL PCN and will be based at Wychbury Medical Group.
This role will involve a mix of providing care in a surgery setting and patients' own homes, working through a patient list, treating minor illnesses and long-term conditions. Responsibilities include:
- Receive patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and make an assessment of their health care needs.
- Undertake both morning and afternoon clinics as well as home visits and administrative work.
- Participate in treatment and preventative healthcare.
- Provide direct clinical care to patients using established clinical guidelines.
- Consult and refer patients to other healthcare professionals.
- Provide one-to-one consultation to patients, both in General Practice and patients' homes, taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, analysing the consultation, diagnosing and explaining the medical problems during the consultation.
- Recommend and explain appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment.
- Provide patient education in preventative healthcare.
- Request laboratory tests as required and agreed under supervising GP.
- Update patient records in accordance with practice policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the practice systems to manage common chronic medical conditions.
- Ensure observance and adherence to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Work to the agreed standards, policies and procedures and protocols of the Practice and be fully conversant with emergency procedures.
- Carry out other duties as directed by the GP Partners/Practice Manager which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
Requirements:
- Current registration as a Paramedic with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Evidence of completion of, or active progression towards, the First Contact Practitioner (FCP) Roadmap.

The organisation currently has 18 GPs, 7 of whom are Partners. The practice has a diverse population and has surgery sites situated in varied residential locations within Dudley. The local area is within close reach of wonderful countryside and also provides excellent access to Birmingham city centre; there is a good transport infrastructure with easy connection to UK motorways and excellent local schools.
