Headquartered in Dundee, ESS Recruitβs client has a proud history over many years in the design and manufacture of electronic products, sub-assemblies, and components across a range of industries. They now need to recruit Assembly Operators to deliver growth opportunities for the company.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Experience in assembly of one-off mechanical and electrical prototype demonstrators, small batch production and proactively identifying improvements in electronics packaging and test setups
- Application of appropriate quality systems for a prototype electronics environment
- Implementation and adherence to ESD control within a prototype electronics environment
- Manual soldering of small electrical components and connectors and undertaking custom wire harness design, assembly, and testing
- Proficient in root cause failure analysis, using industry standard techniques and create appropriate documentation
- Support development of works instruction and fault-finding documents
- Good problem-solving skills and able to identify areas for improvement
Candidates with HND qualification in a relevant field will be considered highly desirable for this role. In addition, you will ideally have experience of hand soldering and SMD soldering. The ideal candidate has a working, practical experience of hand and SMD soldering, and a working knowledge of mechanical assembly equipment and solutions.

- Thorough knowledge of engineering and prototyping techniques
- (ideally) a current J-STD-001 qualification
- Work well as part of a small, extremely busy team as well as the ability to be self-motivated and work independently under their own initiative, prioritising workload
- Experience working closely with product development teams
- MS Office PC skills would be beneficial
