Part of the ZEDRA group, ZEDRA Legal Services (‘ZLS’) is a Solicitors Regulation Authority (‘SRA’) regulated business. It is a boutique private client law firm which mainly provides legal services to its sister company, Zedra Trust Company (UK) Limited (‘ZTC’) on a solicitor/client basis but also provides legal services to private clients. ZTC is a trust corporation and is appointed as professional trustee and professional executor in a large book of trusts and wills.
The successful candidate will join ZLS’ probate team to provide a first-class service to ZTC and private clients in relation to will writing services, Lasting Power of Attorney (‘LPA’) drafting and probate matters.
Key Accountabilities- Responsibility for the end to end administration of a book of probate cases varying in complexity, including some complex cases e.g. taxable estates, estates including agricultural, business and overseas assets and estates where we are on notice of a claim.
- Taking instructions in relation to Wills and LPAs and drafting.
- Providing advice in relation to probate related matters which may include drafting deeds in connection with trusts created in a Will and Deeds of Variation.
- Supervision of the preparation of probate papers and drafting documents in support of an application e.g. Statements of Truth.
- The role holder will need to act largely independently and be proactive in driving matters forward, through effective prioritisation of workload, to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of quality service.
- The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor with over 5 years PQE.
- Be able to demonstrate a strong background in probate and will writing including a solid understanding of inheritance tax including the availability of all reliefs and exemptions and experience with grossing up.
- The role holder will need to act largely independently with some supervision and be proactive in driving matters forward, through effective prioritisation of workload, to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of quality service.
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to the success of the team.
- Demonstrate strong client communications.
- Planning and organisational skills are key to this role together with effective time management skills.
- Ideally, STEP qualified or working towards the qualification.
