On a mission to transform one of the world’s most pollutive industries in Construction, this company is looking for a VP of Engineering to join them, with occasional visits to their London office.
Their product allows you to make an informed decision on cost, carbon and quality when constructing any building. After oversubscribing their Series A investment round, they need someone to join them who’s eager to help build a sustainable future.
As well as working in the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you’ll be taking the leadership of a 9-person (with a runway of expansion) team of engineers and data scientists, managing a budget of £1m+ in 2024. Though this is about technical leadership, you’ll need to have those people skills to work with the Senior Engineering Manager to create a culture of excellence and develop best practices.
Working with the SLT, you’ll have an eye on technology trends, opportunities, and threats ensuring that you take action on this where you can, all while maintaining alignment with business goals. You’ll also provide engineering thought leadership, ensuring the best technical landscape and approach.
You’ll be working closely with the Product and Commercial teams to align the engineering strategy with the product roadmap and vision, effectively communicating this to the wider engineering team. Working closely with your engineering team, you’ll provide technical oversight while supporting the overall system architecture, ensuring that you run a strong Agile culture that fosters best practices and bottom-up innovation.
The candidate
They are a start-up looking to scale rapidly, so if you’re from this kind of background then that is brilliant. They’ve recently hired a Senior Engineering Manager to focus on the people leadership side of things, so your technical leadership and strategy strengths will be utilised here. Though you won’t be in the nitty gritty with code, you’ll need strong engineering experience, focusing on leading technical strategy and development in a SaaS B2B environment. They’re really looking for someone who knows their stuff; it’s a real opportunity to come into a solid business and use your expertise to take them to the next level of growth.
Experience in one or more of their core programming languages such as Python, C#, TypeScript or related is also essential. Their tech stack includes: Python, C#, TypeScript, .NET Core, React, Azure, Redis, Terraform, REST APIs, Distributed Systems, Distributed Storage, Azure Tables, SQL Server, Cosmos, xUnit.
What’s in it for you?
They’re offering between £140,000 to £180,000 for this position and though the majority of the role would be remote, the engineering team do like to get together once every two weeks in London. They have an attractive pension scheme that matches up to 7%, 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays and a Christmas shutdown), paid volunteering days, enhanced family policies, private medical insurance (including critical illness and life insurance), a laptop and all the tools you need to not just succeed but thrive.
