The role: What you’d be doing? You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement software solutions that address complex sustainability challenges. Your focus will be on building internal tooling that consultants use to deliver these insights to clients. You’ll be responsible for creating high-performance, secure systems with a strong emphasis on data management and analysis. Your work will span ETL pipelines, data backends, and web applications, ensuring their technology can handle the complex modelling requirements of their sustainability analyses. As a Senior Engineer, you’ll also play a crucial role in establishing and evolving the standards and practices of the new Engineering Team, mentoring less experienced engineers, and driving requirements for clarity on ambiguous problems.

The candidate: What’s in it for you? You’ll be joining a newly established and growing Engineering Team, working on advanced modelling tools that provide crucial climate scenario insights to FTSE clients across various industries. As a senior member of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape their technology stack and contribute directly to impactful sustainability solutions. You’ll have a flexible work environment, splitting your time between a central London office and home working. You’ll be at the heart of their dynamic startup environment, with direct access to stakeholders and the chance to wear multiple hats beyond your core engineering role. You’ll get a competitive salary of up to £100K, with a potential annual bonus on top of your base salary. About you? You’ll be an established Senior Software Engineer with at least 7 years of experience in software development and systems engineering. You should be proficient in Python and have a track record of delivering production software systems that incorporate various data backends, query languages, and ORM frameworks. Your expertise should include API design, web application development, and a background in data engineering, particularly with ETL pipelines. While not mandatory, experience with modern cloud technologies and platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes and Docker, plus knowledge of or interest in sustainability and climate-related issues would be advantageous.
