The role:
You’d be joining their Cloud Engineering team, which currently consists of 2, however, they are rapidly growing and expect to add 7 more heads to the team within the next year. You’ll be building Westminster’s community by working in a diverse team; aiding in the council’s adoption of multi-cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP) services. This will include responsibilities such as:
- The migration of services into Cloud platforms
- Implementing and maintaining cloud security
- Providing administration and configuration of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS
- Designing CI/CD process flows
- Providing guidance on how this can be delivered
You’ll work across the whole of the Digital and Innovation portfolio, supporting activity across core IT and technology, customer and digital, and supporting their Smart City ambitions to make Westminster a world-class city. This will require a proactive and relentless focus on delivery.
About you:
Open-source, cloud-based, loosely-coupled technologies are their preference, this is to make sure their technology remains nimble and easily iterated upon, and ensures services are built upon APIs wherever possible. It’s Multi-cloud-based, with GCP and Azure as their go-to computing platforms (however they will likely introduce AWS too). They use Terraform for their Infrastructure as Code tool and like to make use of DevOps methodologies with both Kubernetes and Docker for containerisation, and Prometheus and Grafana for their analytics, monitoring, and alerting.
You will also need to have knowledge of one or more programming languages below:
- Rust
- Go
- Python
- C#
